The Reaper, also known as the Grim Reaper, is a character in Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

Characteristics

The Reaper is a pale, tall being with yellow eyes, sharp teeth on his lower jaw, and two flat nostrils. Like the traditional appearance of Death, The Reaper wears a hooded black robe, which covers his entire body, and carries around a large scythe. Some pieces of fabric dangle from The Reaper's arms. The Reaper's scythe has a wooden handle and a few stumps. The Reaper is the most powerfuly Ghouly since it is invincible, and The Reaper instantly kills anything that it touches, including Cooper and other Ghoulies.

Biography

Unlike other Ghoulies, The Reaper's first appearance depends on where Cooper breaks certain Challenge rules. There are 42 scenes with breakable challenge rules, and the first in which The Reaper appears depends on where a Challenge rule is first broken. However, there are two scenes in Chapter 3 where The Reaper appears regardless: the Servants' Bathroom (scene 28) and Krackpot's Lab (scene 32). In the Servants' Bathroom, the Survive Challenge is timed at 1 minute, 20 seconds, but the Time Limit Challenge is timed at 20 seconds, so Cooper has to avoid The Reaper for an entire minute. In Krackpot's Lab, The Reaper must be summoned to defeat the Vampire.

If Cooper breaks a rule, The Reaper materializes at either door in the room. The background music stops playing, and is replaced by a sound of a big bell ringing every few seconds. The Reaper continues to go after Cooper until he enters the next room. The area that surrounds The Reaper loses its color, but is restored once The Reaper moves away. It moves around slightly faster than Cooper. If The Reaper is close to Cooper, it points its right index finger at him, and a light blue glowing light emits from The Reaper's hand. If Cooper gets touched by The Reaper, he turns gray and falls dead on the floor. The scene is then restarted. Although The Reaper cannot take damage, it can still be knocked over and get hit by Temporary Weapons. In the Cinema, Garbage Yard, Cloakroom, Schoolroom, Laundry or the Servants' Dormitory, The Reaper can be knocked out of a window, which causes it to stop chasing Cooper. There is a type of Super Soup called the Dizzy Reaper!, and as its name suggests, it causes The Reaper to become dizzy temporarily. Whenever The Reaper defeats either Cooper or a Ghouly, it takes out its scythe, turns it over and plays it like an electric guitar. Because of this, whenever The Reaper defeats a Ghouly, Cooper has a few extra seconds to escape from it.

The Reaper is featured in the 20th Bonus Challenge, (Don't Fear) The Reaper!, in which Cooper must survive several of them. The challenge ends once Cooper is touched by one of them.
