Rare Wiki:About

Rare Wiki is a wiki dedicated to covering Rare Ltd. and their franchises (except for Banjo-Kazooie and Conker, as in-depth coverage of these two franchises can be found at Jiggywikki and Conker Wiki respectively). The Rare Wiki was founded by Results May Vary on February 14, 2019. Almost immediately after the wiki was set up, Results May Vary forked the content from the Rare Wiki on Fandom (with the permission of KPH2293).

The Rare Wiki on Fandom was founded in early 2007 by members of the Super Mario Wiki, specifically to move over Banjo and Conker content from the Super Mario Wiki. At the same time, the Super Mario Wiki community merged the articles into a Banjo-Kazooie and a Conker series article respectively. In April 2011, the series articles were deleted from the Super Mario Wiki following a change to the coverage policy that no longer allowed for any Banjo-Kazooie and Conker coverage.

A majority of the articles on Fandom's Rare Wiki were either Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, or Conker-related. Rather than retain these articles (save for game and series articles), the Rare Wiki community decided to delete them and safely integrate the information to the Super Mario Wiki, Jiggywikki, and Conker Wiki respectively. This occurred around the time when Donkey Kong Wiki (www.dkwiki.com) had its content merged into the Super Mario Wiki as well. Much of the content was deleted and rewritten during the initial merge, and as such, Rare Wiki retains its uniqueness from the Fandom counterpart. This is unlike Jiggywikki, for example, as most of its main content was ultimately retained, albeit rewritten.

Rare Wiki also serves as a hub for content of cross-wiki coverage, such as the Rare Creative Jam and Minecraft. To not duplicate the content related to Conker and Banjo, their own wikis link back to Rare Wiki's articles and vice-versa.
