Tim Stamper and his brother Chris Stamper founded Ashby Computers and Graphics and Ultimate Play the Game in 1983, and later formed Rare together with Joel Hochberg.

Stamper's career in the industry began when he was working in the coin-op industry. During this time he worked on conversions on Space Invaders and Galaxian boards then began to develop his own games.

He left Rare in 2007. Stamper has since been involved in various other ventures including the studio FortuneFish which was set up by his son Joe in 2013.
