Wizards & Warriors X: The Fortress of Fear is a side-scrolling platformer game developed by Rare Ltd. in 1990 for the Game Boy. In the game, the player takes on the role of the warrior Kuros, who sets out for the Fortress of Fear to rescue Princess Elaine from the evil wizard Malkil. The game consists of five chapters that consist of 18 levels in total. In contrast to previous entries in the Wizards & Warriors series, gameplay consists of linear hack-and-slash combat where the player has to clear each level by defeating enemies, collecting treasure, and gaining magic powers from spells.
