WWF WrestleMania

WWF WrestleMania is a wrestling game developed by Rare Ltd. for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989 as the first WWF licensed NES game. The game features six wrestlers players can play as: Hulk Hogan, André the Giant, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, Bam Bam Bigelow, and The Honky Tonky Man. All the wrestlers possess a limited number of moves, which consist of standing punches and kicks, headbutts, a running attack, a move off the turnbuckle (of which the Giant and Bigelow cannot perform), a bodyslam (of which Bigelow and Honky Tonk cannot perform) and a "back attack" for when the opponent is standing behind the player, with all the moves somewhat tailored to each wrestler. The wrestlers cannot leave the ring and can only execute the turnbuckle from the bottom two corners. Sometimes when a wrestler is taking damage he will turn red, indicating that they are in the "angry" state, wherein he can inflict more damage. Occasionally during a match, an icon will appear that a wrestler can pick up to regain health. The icons are unique to each wrestler and cannot be used interchangeably. Players can either play by themselves or compete with up to five other players in multiplayer, and can choose to play in either single exhibition matches or tournaments. In single player, tournaments are won by selecting a wrestler and then defeating the other five in a series of matches. In multiplayer tournaments, each player faces every other wrestler once and at the end, the player with the best record wins. In the event of a tie, the player who achieved the single fastest victory during the tournament is declared the winner.
