WWF Superstars

WWF Superstars is a game developed by Rare Ltd. in 1991 for the Game Boy. Based on the WWF' syndicated show of the same name, it is also the first WWF game for the Game Boy system. The game features five wrestlers from the WWF's roster to choose from: Hulk Hogan, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, and Mr. Perfect. Before every match, wrestlers cut promos on their opponent. Following the match, Vince McMahon comments on the action and the wrestlers each have two comments they can make. One is a generic taunt, and the second is specific to the opponent. All the wrestlers have the same movesets, with the exception of individualized strike attacks. The movesets consist of punch-and-kick attack moves, a bodyslam, grappling moves, ground attack moves, Irish whip moves, and flying turnbuckle moves. Players can also wrestle outside of the ring by throwing their opponent over the ropes or by performing a dropkick through the ropes. This can only be done once per match and causes considerable damage. Once the player selects a wrestler, they must defeat the other four in a series of matches in order to be named WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Upon completion, the player will receive a portrait picture of their chosen wrestler.
